Heartworms
are parasites that inhabit the heart and lungs of infected dogs. Heartworm
disease is transmitted by mosquitoes and can cause serious health problems, and
may eventually lead to heart failure and death. Signs of heartworm disease
includes coughing, breathing difficulty, and reduced ability to exercise.
Heartworms can be prevented by giving your pet a monthly
heartworm pill.
