Deer Park Veterinary Hospital

SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT

  • Our hospital is equipped with several pieces of specialized equipment which allow us to better diagnose and treat your pets.
  • An in-house blood chemistry machine, allows us to receive lab results within 15 minutes.
  • We have an x-ray machine and processor to radiograph pets if necessary and have immediate results.
  • Our ultrasound machine can also be used for diagnoses.
  • All of our anesthetic machines are equipped with isoflurane gas, one of the safest anesthetic gases available.  We also have a machine equipped with sevoflurane gas, which is the same anesthetic gas used in children.  This is used in short procedures and with at-risk patients because of its fast and safe induction and recovery periods.
  • To aid in the diagnosis and treatment of ear problems, we have two pieces of equipment.  The first is a special flush machine which allows us to remove large debris and infection from the external ear canal.  The second is a video otoscope.  This machine allows us to visualize deep into the canal and the eardrum, to flush the external and middle ear if necessary, to biopsy canal growths, and to remove polyps or tumors.
  • For the detection of glaucoma we use a tonometry pen.  This piece of equipment allows us to measure the eyes’ inner pressures.  This test may be part of the routine wellness exam for breeds considered high risk, as well as in animals presented for eye problems.
  • Blood pressure is monitored in all anesthetic patients as well as in those being treated for heart and kidney disease.  We use a specialized Doppler blood pressure machine to provide accurate readings.
  • We also have a petMAP blood pressure machine that can also determine heart rate. This can be used to determine blood pressure without making noises and disturbing the animal. Therefore, allowing a more accurate reading.
