WELLNESS EXAMS
- Starting at one year of age and continuing until age 8, we recommend annual examinations for all pets. Our doctors perform complete physical exams at these visits. Our emphasis in these exams is early recognition of disease. Many diseases, when found early, can either be cured or managed with long-term therapies. Vaccinations are given at the wellness visit if all is normal with the pet’s health.
- After the age of 8 and for pets with chronic illnesses, we will often recommend wellness exams every 6 months. We may recheck blood profiles with these exams. Medications used in long-term illnesses can affect organ function. If found early, the damage often can be slowed or even reversed. Some long-term medications require specific blood level tests every 6 to 12 months.
- “Super seniors” often have special needs. We are always happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about your “old friend”.
HOSPITALIZATION
- We are a full service veterinary hospital. We provide short and long term hospital care for pets with illnesses. Our licensed technicians and assistants help the doctors provide the best possible care for your sick or injured pet.

- All pets have their teeth and gums examined by our doctors at their routine wellness visits.
- Our licensed technical staff performs routine dental cleanings on dogs and cats of all ages. The procedures include high speed ultrasonic cleaning, polishing and fluoride treatments.
- We have the capability to take dental radiographs, looking for diseased tooth roots which may cause infection and pain for the pet.
- If necessary, our doctors perform both simple and surgical extractions of diseased teeth.
- Special considerations, such as preanesthetic blood work, intravenous catheter and fluid therapy, and special anesthesia protocols, are taken with compromised or older pets.

SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT
- Our hospital is equipped with several pieces of specialized equipment which allow us to better diagnose and treat your pets.
- An in-house blood chemistry machine, allows us to receive lab results within 15 minutes.
- We have an x-ray machine and processor to radiograph pets if necessary and have immediate results.
- Our ultrasound machine can also be used for diagnoses.
- All of our anesthetic machines are equipped with isoflurane gas, one of the safest anesthetic gases available. We also have a machine equipped with sevoflurane gas, which is the same anesthetic gas used in children. This is used in short procedures and with at-risk patients because of its fast and safe induction and recovery periods.
- To aid in the diagnosis and treatment of ear problems, we have two pieces of equipment. The first is a special flush machine which allows us to remove large debris and infection from the external ear canal. The second is a video otoscope. This machine allows us to visualize deep into the canal and the eardrum, to flush the external and middle ear if necessary, to biopsy canal growths, and to remove polyps or tumors.
- For the detection of glaucoma we use a tonometry pen. This piece of equipment allows us to measure the eyes’ inner pressures. This test may be part of the routine wellness exam for breeds considered high risk, as well as in animals presented for eye problems.
- Blood pressure is monitored in all anesthetic patients as well as in those being treated for heart and kidney disease. We use a specialized Doppler blood pressure machine to provide accurate readings.
- We also have a petMAP blood pressure machine that can also determine heart rate. This can be used to determine blood pressure without making noises and disturbing the animal. Therefore, allowing a more accurate reading.
IN-HOUSE PHARMACY
- Our hospital is equipped with a full pharmacy. We provide most of a pet’s needed medications at the time of their visit.
- For those pets that are difficult to give oral medications, we have our own compounding pharmacy. We can turn most any oral pill into a flavored liquid to aid in administration. The flavors include: fish, tuna, salmon, chicken, liver, beef, peanut butter, cheese, and molasses.
NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT
- Our entire staff is educated to help you provide the best nutritional support for your pet.
- We can recommend specific diets for certain medical conditions as well as direct you in the proper amount to feed.
